2013 Mariners Point Junior School of Golf

Registration is now underway!

Welcome:
Curious to know what the game is all about? Want to learn the fundamentals of the golf swing with others who share the same interest? It's important to note that we all posses talents, but often times we're unsure how to develop those talents to their full potential. Ron's teaching philosophy is founded on the belief that the best way to develop your talents is to follow the proven techniques of hotbeds, i.e. tiny places that produce large numbers of world-class performers in sports, art, music, business, math, and other disciplines. Here are some impressive examples:

  • The first South Korean woman golfer won a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament in 1998; now there are forty-five on the LPGA Tour, including eight of the top twenty money winners.
  • An Aramshackle Moscow tennis club that had, over the previous three years, produced more Top 20 women players than the entire United States.
  • A humble Adirondacks music camp where students accomplished one year's worth of music in seven weeks.
  • A San Mateo inner-city charter school that, in four years, transformed a student population perennially ranked at the bottom of state math scores into one that scored in the ninety-sixth percentile.

The 2013 curriculum designed by Ron Sagara follows in the footsteps of best practices from the PGA Sports Academy and tips for improving your skills from Daniel Coyle, best- selling author of the talent code and the little book of talent. The curriculum is founded on the belief that golf instruction is based on repetitive motor skill development, lots of it! But, that the mental aspect of the sport – building confidence, determination and perserverence – is just as important, if not more so.

A week of golf camp will cover these topics:

  1. Getting Started: Ideas for igniting motivation and creating a blueprint for the skills you want to build.
  2. Improving Skills: Methods and techniques for making the most progress in the least amount of time.
  3. Sustaining Progress: Strategies for overcoming plateaus, keeping motivational fires lit, and building habits for long-term success.

Ron is an elected member to The Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA) and recently named to the class of Top 50 Kids Teachers for 2012, as selected by U.S. Kids Golf. The golf industry recognizes PGA Professionals as the gold standard, the best-trained individuals in the game of golf.

Players Camp - Full-Day Camp
The Full-Day
Golf Camp is designed to provide both the occasional and experienced golfer with the tools and resources necessary for improvement. It is important to note that not all juniors have the same goals. This program provides a choice. If juniors want to play for fun, it offers that option. If they are serious about their game, they are helped to reach their potential.

We improve proficiency and recognize achievement in five skill areas: putting, pitching, chipping, driving, and bunker shots. The goal is to provide a social yet competitive program for juniors that forms a "bridge" from the traditional junior exposure of skills development to on-course playing. Juniors get a chance to develop advanced skills necessary for competition and learn how to manage their game on the golf course.

Time: 8:30am-4:00pm
37.5 hour program
Cost: $549.00
Equipment: Complimentary
